Hampi is about 160 km from Hubli via Hospet — close enough for a full day trip, and India’s most-visited heritage ruin (over a million visitors a year). Here’s a realistic one-day plan, the cab cost, and when to go. Full fares: Hubli to Hampi taxi.
Leave Hubli early via Gadag and Hospet (fast four-lane most of the way). You’re at the ruins by ~9:30.
Virupaksha Temple, Hemakuta Hill and the Hampi Bazaar before the heat builds.
The stone chariot and musical pillars — Hampi’s icon. The cab shuttles you between clusters so you only walk what you want.
Lotus Mahal, Elephant Stables, the Queen’s Bath and the royal enclosure.
Hemakuta Hill or Matanga for the sunset, then the drive back — home in Hubli by night.
To add Anegundi, the Tungabhadra coracle ride and a slower pace, stay a night in Hospet. Two-day trips bill 300 km/day.
A round trip is ~300 km, right at the daily minimum, plus driver batta; parking at the ruins is extra. See the Hampi route page for details, or our North Karnataka travel statistics for visitor and season data.
